I hope this letter finds you and all of your loved ones healthy and safe in this uncertain time.
The pandemic has created hardships throughout the country, especially for performing arts organizations. The work of philanthropies, such as the New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation, has become even more important.
A generous donor has pledged to match all contributions to the New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation, up to $50,000. To help us take advantage of this special opportunity, please consider making a gift to the New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation, in addition to your annual gifts to the NMPhil. The New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation exists to support, not compete with, the NMPhil. Please continue to give as you have and are able to the NMPhil directly.
The New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization started three years ago to provide sustainable, dedicated funding for the New Mexico Philharmonic. This funding creates long-term stability, future growth, and permanence for the NMPhil. The Foundation’s finances are completely independent from the NMPhil. The Foundation has no staff and very low overhead, assuring that virtually every dollar you place with the Foundation goes entirely into the Foundation’s permanent endowment.
In 2020, we met a matching challenge pledge from an anonymous donor and received large donations from a few individuals who gave to the Foundation beyond their annual contributions to the NMPhil. We are happy to report that the Foundation corpus is currently more than $800,000. Our goal for 2021 is for the Foundation’s corpus to reach $1 million. Every dollar you donate to the Foundation during this match will be doubled.
Gifts can be made in many ways such as stock or designated bequests from estates and wills, typically called “asset gifts.” Gifts can also be bonds, real estate, related instruments, and of course cash. These are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Please join us in providing additional support for outstanding classical music in New Mexico, ensuring a bright future for your NMPhil.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
Thomas Martin, MD
President of the Board, New Mexico Philharmonic Foundation
